Daewoo wins order to build two LNG carriers

Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering Co., South Korea's No. 2 shipbuilder, said Thursday that it has received an order to build two liquefied natural gas carriers.
Under the deal with Awilco LNG AS of Norway, Daewoo Shipbuilding said it also has an option to build two more LNG ships, Daewoo Shipbuilding said in a statement.
Daewoo Shipbuilding did not mention other details, including the value of the contract.
Daewoo Shipbuilding has won orders valued at $4.35 billion so far this year, achieving 40 percent of its annual order target of $11 billion, it said.
Shares of Daewoo Shipbuilding were trading at 40,150 won on the Seoul bourse as of 9:30 a.m., up 1.9 percent. (Yonhap)
