BCCK-BAKS INTERNSHIP

Dear BCCK Members,
Following the success of the British Association for Korean Studies (BAKS) internship initiative in 2008 we are happy to announce that BCCK is repeating the programme this year.
As background, British students who are taking undergraduate courses in Korean Studies visit Korea for a period of one year to undertake intensive Korean language courses. Under the scheme, the students will complete their one year of studies and will then take up a two month internship placement with one of the BCCK Member companies.
BAKS have received a number of applications from students seeking an internship following their studies that begin this coming autumn making them available to take up a position in July 2011. Not only does the student gain a unique exposure to professional life in Korea but equally Korean employees get to interact, communicate, work and even socialise with young foreign students at a peer level which many have never done before.
The internship selection process for both students and companies for the July 2011 placement will be performed in June 2010 and I would be very pleased to hear from companies that would like to be considered for this programme.
I do think that this is a rare opportunity for both the BCCK and its Member companies to add some real value to the education of British students whilst at the same time deriving some real longer term benefits of their own.
The BCCK will act in a facilitation and coordination role for this project, but each company that is willing to give an internship opportunity will need to undertake themselves any necessary administration involving the Immigration department and any other local requirements..
